MacOS 27
Among users, it was macOS that received the most criticism for its design.
Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reported that Apple plans to refine the Liquid Glass design in macOS 27.
Some features of the new design related to transparency effects and shadows have led to noticeable readability issues, particularly in the control panel, Finder, and apps with sidebars.
We published an extensive review on this topic, where we listed all the shortcomings of the new design.
Bloomberg sources said Apple is planning a “minor redesign” for macOS that will address all of these shortcomings. However, Liquid Glass itself will remain in place; the company will only make some minor design changes. The new design is reportedly what the company originally planned for macOS, as Apple’s designers “missed the mark” on Tahoe.
Besides changing the Liquid Glass design, Apple will focus on fixing bugs, improving battery life, and improving performance. All of the Cupertino company’s findings will be unveiled at WWDC on June 8.
